Choose AIS Stream when your application needs ongoing AIS updates over WebSocket. Choose the HTTPS API to request current positions, vessel details, or historical routes on demand. You can also combine them: both use JSON and the same API key.
Pelyr makes data age and sources traceable. Regular WebSocket status messages, information about lost messages, and clear errors help you monitor the connection and understand the data reaching your application.
No. Participation in the Pelyr Network and API access are independent. You can build with the APIs without operating a station, and contributing station data does not automatically provide API access.
